Thanks. This was great. I have often thought of the Revolutionary period as an age of young men. But that didn’t really happen till the start of the Victorian age. At 59 I feel like I’m going through my second mid-life crises. In other ways I’m just now coming of age. Many of my friends are talking about retirement but I have so much left to do in my career, and I’ve barely had time to scratch what I’m capable of. I’ve got two kids in college and two still at home. At times I feel despair, as it all seems to be crashing down around us, but I guess it’s kind of always like that. The Revolution, Civil War, Reconstruction, Industrialization, World War I, Depression, World War II, Cold War; it’s always been spinning out of control and on the verge of collapse. That’s the challenge.
I feel you. You still have plenty of living to do (God-willing). And as to despair over what’s happening - I highly recommend you check out of the news. Both TV and online.
